Superior had its beginnings as a coal-mining town in the late 1800s, and it was officially named in 1896-with its name chosen because of the superior quality of the local coal. Coal remained its major industry through the end of World War II, and then the mines closed. Lots of people moved away to try new ventures, but many remained because of the beautiful land, fertile for farming and great for ranching.

If you’ve heard people talk about beautiful Rock Creek, they are referring to Superior’s largest residential development. It actually houses more people than the town proper: With some 250 people living in town, there are thousands living in Rock Creek. The area’s total population is about 12,000.

Elevation here is about a mile above sea level, yet the land is flat enough to keep construction projects easy. But you only have to glance up from what you’re doing to see a magnificent view of the Rockies, so close it seems you can reach out and touch them. The sky looms bright and large above you. Even so, you’re only eight miles-twelve minutes-away from Boulder, and a half hour outside of Denver. Denver International Airport is just 36 minutes away. It’s easy to enjoy the suburban or rural lifestyles available in Superior, and still commute easily to a job in any of several larger cities.

Let’s crunch the figures here. If you live in Superior, you’re probably going to have a household income somewhere between $80-$100,000 per year. Most households include someone who’s a college graduate. Homes start at around $250,000 and go up, all the way up to include features you’ll love like granite fixtures, home theaters, and wet bars.

The schools are part of the Boulder Valley School District, and achievement levels exceed the state averages in many learning parameters-plus there are many additional enrichment activities available for your children.

Where will you go? What will you do?
